Assessing Metabolism

Overall health and wellness require appropriate nutrition, physical activity and exercise. Additionally, realistic expectations and a healthy attitude must be developed to ensure your success. Your thoughts and attitudes towards your new fitness program and past experiences are just as important as the intensity of your workouts and food choices. Poor diet and inactivity can lead to an unbalanced and inefficient metabolism causing unwanted weight gain, obesity, cardiovascular disease, diabetes and low energy levels. A lack of motivation and appropriate programming will make it difficult to want to anything about it. With the millions of Americans suffering from these obstacles and conditions, it is evident that those that attempt diet and exercise seem to be falling short of their goals. Most of these programs fail simply because they try and provide a temporary fix while providing a "one size fits all" approach.

Our Equilibrium Fitness Program takes a complete look at your attitudes, behavior, metabolism, dietary needs and fitness level. We design a custom-fit three-part program. Part one is a comprehensive assessment that provides us with information related to your current health, injuries, eating and exercise patterns, knowledge base and identifies your expectations, attitudes and behaviors related to your health and fitness goals. Part two will develop a nutrition guideline that helps you eliminate unwanted fat, build lean muscle mass and "rev up your metabolic engine." Part three is an exercise plan that maximizes your ability to optimize fat burning, boost your metabolism, increase and preserve lean muscle mass.

Uncover and Assess

We begin by teaming you up with one of our Exercise Physiologists to act as your Program Director. During your initial consultation, we will discuss your specific desires and needs, assess your overall fitness level and discuss your plan of action. We will perform two easy 10-15 minute assessments and take a "snapshot" of your metabolism by measuring:

  • Your Resting Metabolic Rate to determine your daily caloric needs and metabolic efficiency.
  • Your body's response to exercise to determine the correct intensity of your workouts.

We have the ability to perform additional laboratory tests to assess other health factors such as low thyroid, hormone imbalances and food allergies. Frequently these health conditions are overlooked and may be affecting your body chemistry and its ability to lose weight.
